Super pollutant advocates from more than 35 leading scientific and environmental organizations call on governments to take immediate, vigorous action to reduce super pollutant emissions.
Today, the group collectively signed on to the Call for Fast Action on Super Pollutants, an appeal to draw attention to the urgent need for cutting emissions of methane, fluorocarbons, and black carbon (also known as super pollutants). Mitigating super pollutants is absolutely necessary to reduce global temperature increases in the immediate future, and to curb the increasingly devastating health impacts among the most vulnerable in our society.
The signatories call on governments to devise a super pollutant Fast Action Plan and include it in their revised Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which should be submitted by the time of COP26 in November 2020.
The Call for Fast Action lays out specific opportunities to reduce super pollutants throughout the economy. These include:

The Call for Fast Action
We, the undersigned, call on governments to create a super pollutant action plan and include it as part of their new Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement, submitted by the time of COP26 in 2020. We further call on business leaders, health and climate experts, civil society groups, funders, and citizens across the globe to take immediate vigorous action to reduce super pollutant emissions. Taking action today on emissions of super pollutants, also referred to as short-lived climate pollutants, will yield most of the climate mitigation feasible by 2050.
