In this series, we profile six countries in Africa: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa. We provide an overview of near-term opportunities for climate philanthropy in these countries to help inform funders as they develop their engagement strategies in consultation with Africa-focused organizations and local partners. The country profiles summarize and build on high-level findings from three studies conducted by our partners Africa Practice, Climate Action Tracker, and Dalberg Advisors.

  • An assessment of the country’s existing governance structures and its readiness for transition to a zero-emission society
  • An overview of opportunities for philanthropic engagement across key sectors
