Gabriel Francisco

Associate Director, Latin America, Global Energy Transition Initiative

    Gabriel has over a decade of experience as an energy policy advisor, having worked with the diplomatic missions of the United States and Norway in Brazil. He was instrumental in fostering cooperation to accelerate clean energy transitions and green technology development both bilaterally and, more recently, multilaterally as an advisor to the G20. As Associate Director, Gabriel coordinates the work of the Global Energy Transition Initiative in Latin America, with a focus on Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.

    He is deeply passionate about Latin American history, culture, and biodiversity. Gabriel is an enthusiast of Latin America’s potential to transition to a low carbon economy. He believes in a change of mindset in the region, where natural resources are preserved and seen as a solution for a true ecological transformation.

    He holds an M.Sc. in Global Energy and Climate Policy from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, an MBA from the School of Engineering of Rio de Janeiro, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
