Josh Smith joined ClimateWorks Foundation in 2019, serving as the Executive Assistant for the Funder Collaborations team. In this role Josh staffs leading funder collaborations.
Prior to joining ClimateWorks Foundation, Josh served six years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, operating in the western Pacific region. Josh was a Petty Officer First Class and Leading Petty Officer of the Combat Gunnery division, managing ship wide weapon systems, operations, related work-center teams, and weapon training of ship’s crew, as well as liaising with high-ranking officers on gun evolutions. Josh was the Assistant Boarding Officer for the Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure team during maritime security operations.
After leaving the Navy, Josh, with a love for Hawaii, decided to stay on Oahu and complete his degree. He received his BA in Geography and Environment, with a focus on paleoclimatology and earth systems, from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
