Shoon So Oo has over twelve years of experience in renewable energy in Asia. Born and raised in Myanmar, Shoon has dedicated his career to promoting sustainable energy solutions that can positively impact communities and economies in the region. He has an educational background in energy and environmental management and has worked across various sectors, including private, public, and non-profit.
Shoon is passionate about driving change and has worked tirelessly to encourage the adoption of renewable energy technologies throughout the region. His primary goal is to see Southeast Asia develop renewable energy sources as close to 100% as possible by 2050. Shoon has worked extensively with stakeholders from various sectors, including government agencies, NGOs, and private companies, to build consensus and drive progress toward this goal.
Shoon worked with organizations such as International Rescue, ASEAN Center for Energy, and WWF Mekong Region office and WWF Myanmar office. His professional experiences and dedication to advancing the renewable energy sector make him a valuable addition to our team.
Shoon holds an MSs degree in Energy and Environmental Management from Europa-Universitat Flensburg, Germany, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Shoon currently is living in Yangon, Myanmar.
