Unleashing renewable energy manufacturing in Africa

Lolade Abiola of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is working with partners to build homegrown renewable energy manufacturing industries across Africa.

Africa’s rapid economic growth positions it as a potential global energy leader and green manufacturing hub and well poised to address the twin crises of energy poverty and climate change. That’s why Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), the African Climate Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, ClimateWorks Foundation, and the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association (CREIA) launched the Africa Renewable Energy Manufacturing Initiative (Africa REMI) in early 2023. The international initiative aims to unlock up to $850 million in catalytic investments to advance clean energy manufacturing capacity across the continent.

The #BoldClimateActionIs campaign showcases how our network of partners and grantees is driving bold climate action and how leaders can scale these solutions. Join the conversation on social media and tell the world what #BoldClimateActionIs to you.

“We need governments to create business-friendly policies and regulations. We need partners from around the world to share best practices with African innovators. And we need investors to back these companies whose products will be sought by the entire world as part of the global transition to sustainable energy.”
